The story of Highflyer is not about classrooms and textbooks. It is about the stubborn, quiet belief that no human being should live their whole life locked out of the written word.
Born From an Elderly Woman's Tears
In 2022, our founder Mr. Godsguidance Godknows Dickson sat beside a 68-year-old woman in a Port Harcourt hospital corridor. The doctor handed her a prescription and discharge form. She stared at it quietly, then passed it to her daughter — not because she couldn't see, but because she couldn't read a single word.
That moment broke Godsguidance's heart. The elderly woman was not unintelligent — she had raised six children, run a thriving market stall for thirty years, and memorised most of the Bible verses in Igbo. But no one had ever thought to teach her to read English.
Six months later, Highflyer opened in a single room behind Town Hall, 26 Rumuogholu Road, with three learners, two plastic chairs, and a handmade blackboard. Today, four years on, we have served more than 500 adults across Rivers State.

Our Mission
To equip illiterate and semi-literate adults in Rivers State with the reading, writing, and communication skills they need to live with full dignity and confidence — at fees that are honest, affordable, and clearly explained.
Our Vision
A Rivers State where no adult is turned away from opportunity, denied access to information, or made to feel ashamed simply because they were never given the chance to learn. Literacy is not a privilege. It is a right.
The Values That Guide Every Class
Every learner enters as a full, capable adult who deserves respect. We never talk down to anyone or make anyone feel small for starting where they are starting.
Learning as an adult takes longer and requires a kind of courage that children don't need. We move at your pace, not ours. There are no races here — only forward progress.
Our classes are communities. Learners become friends, encourage each other, and celebrate together. Many graduates say the friendships were as life-changing as the literacy itself.
Affordable does not mean second-rate. Our tutors are trained educators. Our approach is grounded in proven, phonics-based literacy methods designed specifically for adults.
Nothing that happens in our classrooms is shared outside them. Your enrolment, progress, and story belong to you alone — unless you choose to share them.
We believe learning has no age limit. Several graduates have gone on to earn WAEC equivalency certificates after leaving Highflyer.
Our Leadership Team
Every member of our team came to Highflyer because they believe, deeply, that this work matters.
A secondary school teacher with years of classroom experience. He founded Highflyer after watching an elderly woman struggle with illiteracy in a Port Harcourt hospital corridor.
Designs all teaching materials and leads tutor training. Spent eight years in adult education programmes across the country before joining us. His methods are warm and remarkably effective.
Visits markets, churches, and community halls to reach adults who need us but don't know we exist. A trained social worker with a gift for making people feel seen and welcome.
